Ahem...its me...
Usually all albums are relea
sed on a tuesday, it's Billboard standard, but an exception was made for Mr. Asher Roth because he wanted his release to coincide with...
...National Weed Day?
This guy is a joke.
At least the album isn't.
The former XXL Magazine co-cover boy as a part of the rising hip-hop class of 2009, Asher Roth released his debut album, "Asleep In The Bread Aisle" today, and it is expected to be one of the year's biggest releases. The hit "I Love College" artist first garnered major attention with his mixtape, hosted by Don Cannon "The Greenhouse Effect", and since then his popularity has taken off. This album is no different, sporting superstar cameos from veterans Cee-Lo, Busta Rhymes, Keri Hilson and Beanie Siegel, and mainstream newcomers Chester French, Rock City, and Miguel.
While the unforgiving comparisons to legendary lyricist Eminem have made Asher Roth somewhat of a disappointment to critics, consumers rave about his debut, in a matter of less than 24 hours it has already recieved an average of 4.5 stars out of 5.
Liiight.

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOving on UP...
Ricky Ross (lemme see your badge mister) is back from corrections allegations and beef wit Curtis with his 3rd and most solid offering, Deeper Than Rap. While most probably didn't believe he could survive all the shots and allegations and come out with anything relevant, Ross pushes a CD out tomorrow that rivals some of the best southern releases in recent months and...dare I say it...years.
Ross, wh
o evolved from a drug-dealing, woman-disrespectin' gangster to a Maybach obsessing, classy acting, overweight Fonzworth Bentley wanna-be, actually plays the part perfectly on Deeper than Rap, with his first single, featuring John Legend, "Magnificent", portrays Ross as a ladies man, in designer 3-pieces and of course, the ever magnificent, Maybach. There are some shady parts on this alb
um where you wonder why this beat even made it onto the final cut, but, for the most part, Ross blacks.
I WAS SOOOO disappointed, the effin most anticipated feature on the album, "All I Really Want" with the Dream, is the worst song I've ever heard from both artists. I swear.
Singles: Magnificent (feat. John Legend), Usual Suspects (feat. Nas, Kevin Cossom), All I Really Want<<Hot Trash.
Fav. Tracks: Magnificent (feat. John Legend), Usual Suspects (feat. Nas, Kevin Cossom), Maybach Music II (feat. T-Pain, Kanye West, Lil Wayne), Yacht Club (feat. Magazeen), Rich Off Cocaine (feat. Avery Storm), Lay Back (feat. Robin Thicke), Valley of Death, Bossy Lady (feat. Ne-Yo).
Least Fav Tracks: ALL I REALLY WANT (FEAT. THE DREAM), Murda Mami (feat. Foxy Brown), Gunplay (feat. Gunplay).
SWHDWI: Yacht Club (feat. Magazeen), Valley of Death.
Best Beat(s): Maybach Music II by The Runners/Kanye West; Valley of Death by Don Cannon/Gorilla Tek.
So, which one is better?
Can't compare these two.
The similarities are nowhere to be found.
Just look at their skin colors.
But if I HAD to choose....
Rick Ross > Asher Roth.
White boy is real, one of the best young'ns, but he got work to do.
Ross on the other hand, on the top of his game.
And his plate.
Peace Suckaz.
